There is more and more research and studies coming out saying that meditating even 10 minutes a day is beneficial to your well being. We already know that exercising at least 3 days a week shows immense benefits. But for most people to get them in requires more time in an already filled-up life. When i was "hit" with this realization several years ago that exercise was much more that getting fit, it became my life's work. To get the most from each moment when you are exercising will reap tremendous results and surprises.
The key is being clear of a couple of things.
Number One. "The working-out."
Be clear with what you are doing from an exercise standpoint. Are you weightlifting to build for power or just to get a little stronger. Are you in a yoga studio ready for a class where the instructor leads you through the program. Maybe you are getting ready to run 3 miles and you are getting ready for a 10k and a personal best. The clearer your purpose
Number Two. "The working-in."
Be clear that you want to really be during the movements . To be present, quiet in the mind, to really connect to the body and maybe even to enlighten yourself! This is the area that is the most dynamic of course, obviously you are much more dynamic than any exercise or movement. So why have you forgotten about you when you exercise? Instead of just going through the motions, you now are creating a greater purpose than the exercise.
When you meditate you are trying at some level to quiet the mind, slow it down a bit. It is always running but meditating gets your focus away from the doing in the external world to going into your inner world.
